Ha!

I'm updating! Take that!

Anyway, Charlie's graduation was nice. Dubya said a number of things, none of which were all that controversial or political, so I have to salute him for that. It was really kind of a non-event in a lot of ways, a nice boilerplate "serve your community" graduation speech. I was heartened by the number of "God is not a Republican or a Democrat" stickers/buttons among graduates, faculty, and others. (All in all I think about 10-20% of the grads and more of the faculty were wearing them.) The protestors I met outside were really nice and sincere, and if it wasn't my brother in there getting the fake-diploma from Byker, I'd have been out on the lines with them. It was nice getting to hang out with the family, even if the Cincinnati contingent couldn't be there (due to the passing of Don's father).

So I woke up today and found out they made a deal on the nuclear option in the Senate, which I think is a mixed bag. But it made Dobson a hundred kinds of angry, strengthened moderates (if they hold their faction together), preserved the filibuster, and weakened Frist, so I figure that's at least as much a win as getting Owen, Brown, and Pryor on the bench is a loss.

I bought a surfboard. It's 7' long, green, and light. I haven't had a chance to get out on it yet - the right morning hasn't come up - but I look forward to the time when I can, because I've been meaning to switch away from the sponge (bodyboard).

Episode III was really good. The last hour was just about as good as Star Wars could get. The script was a bit shaky again, but Ian McDiarmid (the Emperor) owned the film.

There really isn't much else happening here, except that I'm starting to find myself cobbling together a more or less complete theology based on all my studies, which is a great deal better than the immature theologies I had before Seminary and the fragmented theologies I've had during. But I guess that's the point of this whole Seminary thing, isn't it.
